When  i tried to upgrade my SEPM to 12 version, I dont know, why i am facing all kinds of problems.

    Please help me!!

The upgradation process hanged up there for nearly 5 hours showed at completed 3%, so i manually killed the process. After wards, stopped IIS admin service and ran upgrade.bat file.

Now I can not start both Symantec Embedded Database and Symantec Endpoint Protectoin Manager services.

    I have attached both the errors.please check them error1.jpeg & error2.jpeg

I thought of following these steps suggested by technical support peson chetan earlier:

    Go to "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\"and rename sem5.log to sem5.log.old

    1. Click Start, click on Run and Type “CMD” then click OK
    2. In the Command Prompt type: "CD C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\ASA\win32\" and press Enter this will change directories to the folder containing dbsrv9.exe.
    3. Force the recreation of sem5.log. Type: "dbsrv9 -f "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db" and press Enter
    4. Click Start, click on Run and Type “services.msc” then click OK and start the Symantec Embedded Database Service
    5. Start the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service.
    6. If it stays started then go ahead and log into the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and everything should now be working properly
    7. If the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service fails to start then run Management Server Configuration Wizard in order to log in to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

I even found out that i dont have dbsrv9 but had dbsrv11

    so i tried the 3rd step as dbsrv11 -f "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db

But after giving this step, it is showing as "-f" not specified. Please guide me.

Luckily i have taken backup recently.

How can i get my old DB and both sepm & embedded DB serivce starting

    Every Help is truly appreciated!!!!!!

Please comment if you need more info

    Regards,

    Anoop Jeevan.

i believe when you took the backup it was on RU 6, correct?

if yes, you can remove the DB as you have the backup DB and the certificates.

its ok :-), the certs are the one that are mentioned article at the location.

\\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Server Private Key Backup

also it is important to have the information listed in backup.txt in the article.
