  • 1.  SEPM Embedded database is very large

    Posted May 18, 2014 11:07 PM

    Hi All,

I got a problem to day with my SEPM 12.1 RU4 MP1a.. It was newly installed on my server and have 60 clients only connected. But what i see, the sem5.db is eating up disk space on the server and we don't know what exactly why. What causing this issue and how to reduce its database capacity.. We knew that it is not normal on SEPM because we have another sepm installed (SEPM RU4) with almost 3 clients but not as big as our newly installed SEPM server..

Is this a bug or issue on SEPM 12.1 RU4 MP1a??

    Thanks in Advance..

    Regards,

    JM

whats the current size of the Database?

whats the contnet revison you have set on this SEPM?

    also log retention?

does reducing these parameters reduce the size of DB?

    Hi Pete,

The isze of the database is approxiamtely 30GB of disk space. All settings are in default. The funny thing is, the SEPM server is running for only two weeks, then the size of the databse is getting bigger in that short time span??

we dont want to reduce the parameters because, this parameters are the same with the other SEPM server which have no issue in disk space..

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

As of now I have not seen any known issue with SEP 12.1 RU4 MP1a DB.

Verify database maintenance options are selected like Truncate transaction logs and Rebuild indexes.

    Could you repair the SEPM?

100 GB disk space is recommended however I would request you to keep it under observation, if database size keep increasing we can conclude that database maintenance is not happening in the background.

Place a call to support so they can troubleshoot this.
