  • 1.  SEPM groups and memory usage

    Posted Oct 29, 2010 03:57 AM

    Hello,

Does memory usage depend on the number of groups created on SEPM ?

In the future I need to create many groups and I wonder about that.

    (environment: 2 virtual SEPMs (load-balancing, 11.0.6100.645) and 1 physical SQL server 2008

    Thank you,

what is the nu,mber of groups?

you may need to have 64 bit OS server edition on Virtual SEPM's.

I think I will have 40 groups at less.

Yes, SEPMs are on 64nit OS (Win2008 R2 EN)

    Thank you,

I don't memory usage depens on no. og groups in SEPM.

It may depends on the no. of clients the SEPM has and their heartbeat interval and commuincation mode

that should not have any impact.

Have the clients reporting to SEPM in pull mode.

The number of groups you create will not affect the performance..However make sure you plan your group well most probably location/VLAN wise so that you can set a GUP in each group.

    Thank you,

Yes multiple GUPs is used on the LiveUpdate Policy in order to select automaticaly the "local" GUP.
