Is there any log which can tell the SEPM Live upddate history such as when had the live update done and how is the file size downloaded from Symantec?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

SesmLu.log will contain information about SEPM liveupdate.

The SesmLu.log contains data that is recorded when LiveUpdate runs on the SEPM for any reason. This side of the logging is for what happens internally after the content has been downloaded.

    File location: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tomcat\Logs\SesmLu.log

Typically searching for the phrase “Failed to notify” or “error” will lead you to the best results.

For the trobleshooting between SEPM and SEP client you can refer log.liveupdate.

Every time Liveupdate runs it outputs what it is doing to the Log.Liveupdate

    File Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Liveupdate\Log.Liveupdate

Search for the keyword “Start of new LU session".

Luresult.txt contains information related to the installation of the Liveupdate client.

    File Location: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Liveupdate\Luresult.txt

    Check Cameron_W Comments

You are wanting to see how much data your SEPM is downloading from our internet liveupdate servers then you are going to want to review the log.liveupdate on the server.

    Windows Server 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate.

    Windows Server 2008+: C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate

You can also grab this information direct from the SEPM Console itself as well, from it's own logs.

These can be found under MONITORS -> Logs -> Log Type: System -> Log Content: Server Activity -> Advanced Filter Settings -> Event Type: LiveUpdate Events

The reason I mention this is that you can also apply additional filters (as you see fit) to save you having to trawl through the actual log files themselves.

The only thing to note is that the size of the files downloaded is only in the log.liveupdate file, so you're still going to want to rummage through that if you want a record of the file sizes.

    Thx all.

I have followed all the instruction.

I can find the download time but still I cannot find the size of file downloaded for Live Update.

From firewall, i found the download size is about 40MB. Is this normal size?

    Hi,

Are you using any other Symantec products? What's the liveupdate download schedule?
