  • 1.  SEPM Live update problem

    Hi All,

    I have created a policy for some PC to connect to Symantec Live Update server to update definiton. Live update will launch daily 00:30.

    But I found it not launch these few days. I can manually launch Live update and update successfully.

    Please advice.

     

    SEP 12.1.4100.4126

    Its set for 1:30am daily not 00:30

    Just want to set other time for teseting tonight.

    but (18/12) still use 00:30 but not udpate

    Was he PC idle, perhaps it wasn't casuing the LU delay.

    It won't work if you have the "Options for skipping LiveUpdate" enabled, as these are managed clients and likely to always see the SEPM (as illustrated by the log screenie).

    Is this LiveUpdate setting meant to act as a backup in case updating via the SEPM fails, or should the clients always update via Symantec LiveUpdate?

    If the latter, then I'd suggest you disable all "Options for Skipping LiveUpdate".  What you've got at the moment means the client will only update via Symantec LiveUpdate at 01:30 if it's more than a day out of date and hasn't been able to heartbeat to the SEPM in over 8 hours.

    Hi,

    Attached system log from 2 PC, those PC in same group.

    one update daily but another one no update ....

     

    Since we want to control live update schedule, thus IT dept. PC will update from Symantec Live update server through internet only. Other PC update from internal SEPM server.

    check the DCOM permission on the failed one.

    and also try uninstall / reinstall of liveupdate from add/remove programs.

    Erm, as far as I can see, both the logs show a LiveUpdate attempt at ~2:30AM on 19th Dec, so both of them ran LiveUpdate.

    The only difference between them is that one grabbed 4 updates, and the other grabbed nothing (presumably because it was already uptodate following the earlier LU attempt at 10:53AM on 18th Dec).
