I already setup the SEPM and LU servers. I have question though, can I transfer the SEPM database from one SQL server to another without destroying the SEPM setup? Is it possible that the SEPM will just be pointed to the new SQL machine with the copied database from the old SQL machine?

This is all about the SEPM Database. Here’s our scenario. Initially we will be setting up a temporary SQL server for SEPM. When the new SQL machine arrived, can we transfer the data of the temporary SQL server to the new SQL server then point SEPM to the new SQL server without disruption to the SEPM?

This is a single site with one SEPM only. Do we have any procedures for this?

    Hi Paul,

Once you copy the DB on new SQL server, run the management server configuration wizard and configure to point to the new sql server IP/hostname and port, by doing this the SEPm will be pointing to the new SQL server with the old DB.

Hi Pete, follow-up question, do I need to stop anything from the SEPM side (services or anything) before detaching the database? It might corrupt something on the database if we detach it while the SEPM is online. Then follow the steps on the link you provided?
