  • 1.  SEPM Management Server List

I have a question concerning the “Management Server List“under the SEPM console/policies tab/Policy Components.

I’ve recently added a server to my site.  I now have 3 SEPM servers connecting to a clustered SQL 2005 database. Under the Default Management Server List (MSL) I have 2 servers that were originally setup with SEP version 11.0.0.0. They have been upgraded slowly to version 11.0.5000.333 over the past couple of years.  These 2 servers are listed in this list with the DNS name and the IP address.  The server I recently installed using 11.0.5000.333 was put in the list with DNS name, IP Address w/ port number.   Everything under this list seems to be working correctly.

I need to create and assign a new MSL Priority List using one of my old servers (SEPM1) and load balance it with my new server (SEPM3), these will be listed under Priority 1.  I will setup a Priority 2 using my SEPM2 server.  The problem is that my older servers do not have a port number assigned to them and I can’t edit the Default MSL to see what port they are currently assigned to. When I go to create the new MSL Priority List the default port is 80 and not 8014, as it was during the installation of my new server.  Does anyone know what the default port for the original servers should be set to for my new MSL Priority List? The default port of 80 or the default installation port of 8014, as the new server was set to?

If there is no port listed in the older list it should by default be port 80.

You can perform the following test to see which port it is:

    -Get on a client

    -Navigate to:

    http://sepmip/secars/secars.dll?hello,secars

-You should see an OK message, if so than its port 80.

-If you don't, you can try the port 8014 added to it:

    http://sepmip:8014/secars/secars.dll?hello,secars

One of these should produce the OK message therefore giving you the port.

Thanks John, I was able to verify that the default port is 80 on the older server.

The solution is already marked , but another and simple methond to check the port used by SEPM is to check in the IIS , The port used by the Symantec webserver is the port used by SEPM
