  • 1.  SEPM not updating

    Posted Nov 19, 2010 06:25 AM

We have a SEPM server. Recently we have had to rebuild the server. We rebuilt the server with the same name and took a backup of the database before we rebuilt the server and rebuilt it with the same name/ip address.

We reinstalled SEPM onto the newly built server and restored the database. We downloaded all the definitions from the symantec website.

The clients however didn't update with the new definitions.

We used SYSLINKREPLACER and updated all clients with that...but still they aren't updating with new definitions.

    Please help

Hi, you might want to download the SylinkMonitor tool.  Its a great little utility you run on a client and it gives very detailed output as to what the client is doing.  Sometimes its easy to spot a problem.  For example you might be able to easily see that the client can't reach the SEPM server or that the sylink file has wrong information.  If the problem is not easily found you can upload the log here or send it to tech support.

Be sure to read this forum post which has instructions on registry changes needed to enable SylinkMonitor.  Near the bottom of the post is a link to download the utility. https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-capture-sep-sepm-communication-logs-sylinkmonitor-mr3-onwards-troubleshooting-communica

    A couple of questions.

Did you make a backup of the keystoare .jks file from the old SEPM?

Does the the domain id match in the sylink.xml file on the clients to the domain id on the SEPM?

REM Backup Automatico de la información importante para SEP11.

REM Todo es copiado hacia la unidad Z.

    xcopy "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Server Private Key Backup\*.*" "Z:\Backup SCSMD_ANTIVIRUS\BK-SEP11\Server Private Key Backup" /e /c /i /f /h /r /y

    xcopy "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\conf\*.*" "Z:\Backup SCSMD_ANTIVIRUS\BK-SEP11\conf" /e /c /i /f /h /r /y

    xcopy "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\*.*" "Z:\Backup SCSMD_ANTIVIRUS\BK-SEP11\agent" /e /c /i /f /h /r /y

    xcopy "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\backup\*.*" "Z:\Backup SCSMD_ANTIVIRUS\BK-SEP11\db-backup" /e /c /i /f /h /r /y

Te envio link para ampliar mas la información, con la copia de las 4 carpetas anteriores es suficiente o necesario para recuperar una consola de SEPM.
