  • 1.  SEPM reinstall help

    We have a SEPM , but manager is not updating the signature. and we were running 12.1.671, as told. we believe it may help if we install 12.1 ru2.

    However, we notice that our DB maybe completely useless. if we want to remove the historical sem5.db completely, what's the exact steps?

     

    If we reinstall 12.1 ru2 into the very same SEPM. Will the managed clients come up in the 12.1 ru2 after reinstall?

    Hello,

    By migrating to the Latest version, the older clients would report back to the SEPM again.

    I would simply suggest you to migrate to the Latest version of SEPM 12.1 RU2, check this Article:

    In case you are deciding to Uninstall the SEPM 12.1.671 and install the same version (keeping the same IP address and host name of the machine) then you may go ahead with Disaster recovery steps.

    I would suggest first we need to check why your manager is not updating defs, if there is a issue with proxy / firewall. You would face the same after update also.

    If you want to remove sem5.db

    you can do a complete fresh install then use the migration wizard to distribute communication settings

    Yes, it works fine for 12.1 client. The RU2 has a *NEW* push communication setting which helps for rescanning back originally managed client by 12.1.671. It's very handy.

     

    I do like to thank for helps here.

    There are two points which I like to share though.

     

    In order for scanning work, the ICMP has to be allowed from SEPM to the client desktop Vlans.

    And I also have been wondering, is SAV 11 not supported in 12.1 RU2? Cos I cannot find the virus definition can be "choose" from the download content tab.
