When I log onto SEPM, it logs on then immediatly jumps back to login screen.

Any ideas\?

Thank you for the prompt response, I can now get access to the SEPM by changing the server name from localkhost:8443 to <ip address of server>:8443

But i cant view anything in the Home tab, also the latest virus definition .jdb is not distrubuting, it is moving from the incoming folder though

 lets go one by one,
if you are able to log in with ip meaning you have ip address entry in host file
check your host file ,it should not have your server ip in place of localhost
it should
be
localhost 127.0.0.1 ( it wont be able to resolve it own ip thats why we have localhost)

for JDB make sure you are downloading 32 bit defs for 32bit manager and same for 64bit manager

I cant connect to the ODBC server

Ok its a 32bit server

I have added a line into my host file as suggested, made no difference, still doesnt log in with localhost.

Also when i use the actual server IP address i get a blank home screen in SEPM, i can see the clients.

Error message for when im testing ODBC connection is Connection failed:unable to start database server.

Also database name is blank is that correct? and what login and password do i use? same as logging into SEPM?

its not like that

est the ODBC connection.

1. Click Start> Control Panel
2. Open Administrator Tools
3. Double-click Data Sources (ODBC)
4. Select the System DSN tab
5. Double-click the SymantecEndpointSecurityDSN and go through the wizard to ensure the following settings:
   • Name: SymantecEndpointSecurityDSN
   • Description: <Anything>
   • Server: Servername
   • Login ID: dba
   • Password: <password> ( your SEPM password ) 
   • select network
   • check tcp/ip
   • type Host=ipaddress of server
      
6. Leave the default settings for the remaining items and click Finish
7. Click Test Data Source, and verify that it states "Success"
8. Click OK

Error now Invalid user ID or password
I have tried username as dba, sa and my normal login username

This all used to work, dunno what happened. Added to a domain recently, but it worked after that

 is your DB embedded or sql? 

i think thats the problem

fix the odbc connection, if you dont know your password follow this

open your iis
if its a DC
the the iusr account should be domain\IUSR_computer name

I am positive it is embedded, but how do i know for sure

 Do a repair  of SEPM from add or remove programs and run the management server configuration wizard

Ok i can now connect to teh ODBC. TEST OK.

I am now back to the error that my login keeps jumping back every time

Hav you any more ideas on this jumping back to the login?

did you try running repair  and running management server configuration wizard?
try those and let us know the resuls 

Yes, thats how i ended up with the ODBC test working now.

So am i still getting the jump back to the login screen.

I have run the IIS tester from Microsoft and am getting errors, on accounts etc

How many web servers do you have in IIS?
in IIS instread of IUSR account  put your admin account
try loggin in to the sepm..
if it works then we need to reset the password for IUSR account.. 

I dont understand this one, when I open IIS, where do i change account? and what is IUSR?

click on start - run
type Inetmgr
right click on symantec web server
select properties
click on directory security
check if anonymous access is checked ( if not check it)
if it does work then
inplace of IUSR account put in your admin account and password
try logging in to the manager

Well I am now connected with a home page

Putting my Administrator account and password did the trick.
Can I leave it like this?

Great @ well if you are not using your IIS to host any website or expose to internet you can leave it that way
Try resetting the password of IUSR account
then put iusr password in IIS instead of your account, if it works well and good.
