Trying to install SEPM 12.1 on a SBS 2003 server.  But i get "The Wizard was interrupted before Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could be completely installed.

Your System has been modified. etc..."

Ive tried to find the install.log to find the issue but have been unable to locate it on the system I have also rebooted and tried the install again with no success.

Thanks

Are you running the installer

Are you running the installer locally? Was there another security program installed on this server before?

Look for the SPC_INST.log, from start - run - %temp%\SEP_INST.log,

search for Return Value 3 and post the 10 lines above the return value 3.

Having SEP 11 installed on

Having SEP 11 installed on this system before may be the problem. Going to SEP 12.1 SBE from 11 is not a supported migration path. You may need to open a case with support and get the Cleanwipe tool to completely remove all traces of SEP 11 before installing SEP 12.1 SBE.

As previously posted  "SEPM

As previously posted  "SEPM 11 was on before but has been removed" with the cleanwipe tool.

I have done two 12.1 installations previously with no hitch and the first was a migration as an experiment with no hassle.

Would it be possible...???

Hello,

Running a Cleanwipe on a Server is not recommended.

However, in your case, try these steps:

  • Delete all the files from %temp% mainly the .tmp files
  • Restart the server and Then try the installation again.

If the above steps does not work, then work on the Manual Uninstall Steps provided in the Article below:

How to manually uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1 on all Windows operating systems

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163684

and when you try to reinstall, make sure you run the setup.exe as an Administrator.

Hope that helps!!
