hi

open
add/remove programs
select symanec endpoint
select modify
remove NTP
select AV and select this feature and all sub feature will be available.
run the install
its quite possible that you selected upgrade groups with package and selected NTP.

Please go to run and type %temp%

Look for a file called SEP_inst.log

In the log file look for return value 3  and paste 6-7 lines before that

We need all the instances for the Return value 3

Did you Deploy with Third Party Tool?

if you deploy SEP by third party tool then you have to remove this package from machine completey and install SEP latest and fresh package.
remove SEP from add/remove or use cleanWipe.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Cached Installs here you can find a folder go inside of that and run Symantec AntiVirus.msi and remove SEP (You may use the package from the cd---cd1\sep also for this).
Delete following folders if present
C:\Program Files\Symantec endpoint protection
C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
Install SEP back and try...

This is a known issue in MR3.
What is the version you are using?
If this is applicable, apply the latest upgrade
