I'm new to the world of SEPM and looking to help setup a new environment.  Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the actual SEPM servers themselves, if there is any issues in deploying them as virtual machines instead of physical???

Assuming you follow the recommended specs for using SEPM as a vm, you should be fine. Ours are all running as VMs since we brought in SEP a few years ago and we have not encountered any issues with this setup.

    Hello,

Follow the best practices for installing SEP/SEPM in VM environment and you should not run into any problems:-

I use VMs since first release of SEPM and no troubles with them.

(I even think the last SAV version was on a VM but migrated to SEPM right after, i can't recall how we moved from P to V)

    Hi,

If using SEP 12.1 then it's more advance to use virtualize network compared to SEP 11.

SEP 12.1 have feature like shared insight cache,  Virtual client tagging etc.

You can use VM servers to install your SEPM server. Absolutely no problems in that. Please keep below article in mind while coniguring your VM server

VM also solves the DR issues.

Many thanks to all admins who shared their experiences. &: )

Having a SEPM on an ESX server, etc is 100% supported.  If resources are ample, there's no cause for any alarm.  Here's some more recommended reading, in addition to what appears above:
