    Hi,

     

    I just upgraded my 11.0.7 MP2 SEPM server running on Windows 2008 R2 to the latest version of SEPM 12. I did not have any issues during the upgrade process but I cannot open the SEPM console on the SEPM server. It gives me a Failed to connect to the server Error. I checked services and I see the SEPM service has stopped. Windows lets me Start the service and after a few minutes it is still in a started state. When I try to log back into the SEPM console the service stops. Any ideas? Has anyone else had this issue. I've rebooted the server a few times and still get the same issue. I don't see much in the Event logs to indicate why this is happening.

    can you pass on the scm-server-0.log from the tomcat\logs folder?

    also the upgrade path is not supported.

    Pete, that's a good point about the upgrade path. I remember reading that and forgot it wasn't supported. This is a test machine. I created a second 11.0.7 server, replicated all my settings, and tested the upgrade process on the new machine. It's a VM and a took a snapshot before upgrading so rather than rack my brain looking through logs I think I am going to roll the machine back and upgrade to a supported version and see what happens. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

    I am still seeing the same issue. When the service stops I see the following entry in the Windows Application log.

    I've been trying other work arounds but nothing seems to fix the issue. I think it's because I am not following the upgrade path as Pete mentioned. I can't seem to find a download for 12.0. Trialware gives you the latest version and since we have not upgraded our licenses yet I cannot download 12 through FileConnect. Does anyone know where I can download 12 without any of the updates?

    Shouldn't the installation tell me that the upgrade path is not supported? I have seen that before with SEPM. I do not get that warning when upgrading. In any event here is what I see in the scm-server-0.log file. I see an entry saying the server schema is higher than the db schema and the server will then exit.

    So I ran the configuration wizard again and it detected that the db version was lower than the server manager and asked if I wanted to update the db version which I opted to do. I then got the following error:

    Error 2338560 (I attached a screenshot) 

     

    this is basically telling me what I already know and was trying to correct.

    Yes you are not alone in this world :-) I also face the same issue when upgrading SEPM v 12.1 RU1 into MP1, here's my error log:

    Hi SpasQ,

    I just want to share my experience that I have been helped by the Symantec support team to do the following steps to make SEPM work again:

    - stop the SEPM service
    - check if there was any javaw process running in Task Manager and kill the process
    - browse to <%SEPM installation folder%>\tomcat\webapps\ROOT\clientpkg 
    - Assisted to install JRE.
    - Browse to %program files%\Java\jre6 
    - copy the Bin and Lib Folders
    - paste the folders in <%SEPM installation folder%>\jre location
    - run the Management Server Configuration Wizard
