SEPM Service wont start

  • 1.  SEPM Service wont start

    When trying to start the SEPM service I get the following message:

    "The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

    In Event Viewer I have the following error.

    "Could not create a FileOutputStream for System.out redirect."

    I tried running a repair but the sepm.msi could not be located.

    What happens if you restart the box? Does the service still stop?

    Can you enable advanced logging per this KBA:

    Hello,

    What version of SEPM are you running?

    Make sure you are running the Latest version of SEPM 12.1 RU3.

    In your case, you have Small Business Edition of SEPM, correct?

    Is there enough disk space on the server machine?

    Restarting the box does nothing. I enabled advanced logging. What logs do you need and where are they?

     

    Version = 12.1.2

    Its got corrupted thats why its asking for msi file during the repair. get those msi run the repair you should be good.

    catalina.out and scm-server-0.log files

    where is the msi file? I ran a search on the C: drive and could not find it.

    There is not a logs directory in C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat.

    First we ran into issues replicating. Then we ran out of disc space. I resized the drive and am now trying rectify all of the issues. Our definitions havent updated in almost 2 weeks.

    Where did you install SEPM from?

    https://fileconnect.symantec.com put the serial number if you see 12.1.2 download that version.

    extract the download. Under SEPM folder you will find the .msi file.

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Symantec connect.

    I would be glad to answer your query.

    Previously we used to download the latest software from https://fileconnect.symantec.com  Now It has been changed to https://symantec.flexnetoperations.com.

    Currently old URL is redirecting to the new one.

    On the flexnetoperations you will find only the latest version of SEP.

    SEP 12.1 RU3 (12.1.3001.165) is the latest version of SEP.

    There are two versions i.e. SEP 12.1 RU2 (12.1.2015.2015) or SEP 12.1 RU2 MP1 (12.1.2100.2093).

    You need exact the same version to complete successful repair.

    You must have downloaded the setup while doing install of SEP 12.1.2, Do you have that setup with you? If yes, please go ahead and repair with that.

    If not then request the support team to upload the required version on the FTP server for you.
