  • 1.  SEPM Sites missing from IIS

    Hello,

So IIS was accidently un-installed from the SEPM server.  So we re-installed but the SEPM virtual directories are missing from IIS now so SEPM will not remain started.

I'm getting the same error as this KB
    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/d947c52b7da1384a652574e30049221e?OpenDocument

But the issue is that I have nothing for SEPM listed at all in IIS.  Here is the lines from the error log,

    2009-08-29 04:55:12.687 SEVERE: scm.server.version = 11.0.2010.25
    2009-08-29 04:55:17.875 SEVERE: ================== StartClientTransport ===================
    2009-08-29 04:55:18.015 SEVERE: Unknown Exception in: com.sygate.scm.server.servlet.StartupServlet
    java.lang.Exception: HTTP 404 Not Found, URL: http://localhost/secars/secars.dll?action=34

So does how can I create the IIS sites for SEPM?

    Thanks!

Thanks!  I'm trying it now, running though the wizard.
I selected the embeded database option the same as before.
On the database settings screen its asking for password, is this same password that was used before?
When I try a new password, it gives me "Failed to connect to the database"

    What next?

some kind of confusing scenario? I tried to uninstall the IIS while SEPM was already installed, this issue doesnt encountered? what version of SEP you are using?

Hi Peter when you say " I tried to Uninstal the IIS while SEPM was already installed"  does it mean that IIS was uninstalled or you just Tried that.

If IIS is uninstalled , the SEPM will not work.Irrespective of the version of SEP you are using.

SEPM is a java based console and it uses a webserver in this case IIS is the web server. IIS is an Integral part of SEPM . IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR SEPM TO WORK WITHOUT AN IIS.

It is ok to uninstall IIS and Reinstal when SEPM is installed. I've done this several times.
Try to run a repair install of SEPM from add/remove programs  it will rebuild the sites in IIS
sometimes running a  management server configuration wizard corrupts SEPM itself.

please run a repair and then management server configuration wizard and the site would appear in IIS

@Acretian --Its completely fine to Un-install-Re-install IIS.Reboot ..then Repair SEPM.
Un-installing IIS doesn't delete any SEPM files..IIS host SEPM's website so that it can accessble to everybody and it can connect to database etc.
Repairing SEPM re-creates the SEPM Website in IIS.
However if you had made some changes in IIS after installing SEPM they won't be retained you will again have to manually do those..like if you have changed the SEPM Websites port or anything logging info,IUSR account. etc
