Hello All

We have  a SEPM SBE 12.1.2 running on a windows 7 PC and it is unable to send emails.

Enabled debugging on emails and attached is the catalina.out log. Please note that actual email addresses were removed and replaced with email@domain.com string.

Please check the log and let me know how to rectify the issue.

Thanks

Dhanushka

are you able to telnet  inbound30.exchangedefender.com on port 25?

seems like you have NTP component isntalled along with Antivirus and antispyware that might be blocking the connection.

check this as well please

Hello Rafeeq

Thanks for the reply

I managed to telenet using our mail server but I am unable to telnet using SEPM.

Based on what I know SEPM SBE versions can not act as email servers so those servers need to relay emails through an email server. Is that correct?

Regards

Dhanushka

No it can still send

Last option, just leave the "Server, Username, and Password" filed blank. The way SEP SBE was designed is if it cannot connect to the mail server, it becomes a mail server and tries to send email directly by looking up the MX record of the recepients domain.

try without user name and password

SEPM does not allow me to save with a blank server or port.

Stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service
Add the line scm.log.loglevel=FINEST and scm.mail.troubleshoot=1 to the bottom of the file:

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc\conf.properties
Restart the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service

Once logging is enabled, search this log for the email address the notification should have go to:

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec protection Center\tomcat\logs\SecurityNotifyTask.log

-or-

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Protection Center\tomcat\logs\catalina.out

Here's an example of a log:
