Hi Earth, The reason why you

Hi Earth,

The reason why you should not upgrade the SEPM directly from MR3 to MR4MP2 is because the database schema has changed for MR4 version. Hence there are chances that the database might get corrupt if you directly migrate from MR3 to MR4MP2. So first migrate SEPM to MR4 and then to MR4 MP2.

I hope this is helpful :-)

Its is not recommended to

Its is not recommended to directly upgrade from MR3 to MR4MP2. This is beacuse MR4MP2 is a maintenace pacth and not a maintennance release. A MP can only be installed over a MR.

Possible effects after a direct upragde to MR4MP2 from a lower version [except MR4]:

Schema Corruption.
Possible dll corruption.
Policies Corruption
Network breakdown.
Challenges with uninstalling SEP.

So the proper seuence for the upgrade would be :
1. Upgrade SEPM from MR3 to MR4
2.Upgrade the Clients by using the Upgrade Groups with feature option
3 Run Live update and then Run command on group to update the Content.
4 Once done now Upgrade to MR4MP2
5.Upgrade the Clients by using the Upgrade Groups with feature option
6.  Run Live update and then Run command on group to update the Content

NO RESTART IS REQUIRED DURING THE PROCESS OF THE UPGRADE
