Created: 05 Apr 2014 | 11 comments

Dear All,

We are using SEPM 11x and facing a very unique problem everyday (for me its unique though) :-

Everyday In SEPM Home Window . There is a new Virus Definition Distribution indicating Date. I dont know from where its getting update for  Virus Definition Distribution because server is not connected to internet. Is it making these definitions itself .  I have no clue. Please guide me.

Here is the snap fyr..

What's the exact version of 11.x you're running? What OS?

Did this just start or had something recently changed?

Does it show correct AV date if you switch the view?

There will be 2 options under the "Display" drop-down.

1. Virus and Spyware definitions - this will show all the client and their definition versions (because AVAS component is mandatorily installed on all clients).

2. Intrusion Prevention Signatures - this will show only the client in which the IPS component is installed (IPS is optional component). If none of the client in your network has IPS installed, this table will be empty.

Let me know if this is helpful.

Have you even considered an upgrade to the latest version of 12.1 (12.1.4.1)?

The version you're running is one of the first for 11.x and countless bugs have been fixed in later versions.

Not to mention 11.x is EOL.

My suggestion is to upgrade first, which will likely fix this.
