    Hi,

    Check this article :

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/h...

According to the following article, the version installed to the new server must be the same version as on the old server.

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH104389

    If possible provide more information

    1) Total number of SEPM's in the network?

    2) Total number of Clients in the network?

    3) If any GUP is configured?

    4) Are there any custom policies are configured?

    Hello,

Backup and Restore would work on the new SEPM on a new VM with same IP address and Host name. Just make sure you have the same version of SEPM installed as installed on the older VM.

Secondly, incase of different IP, check this Article:

How to move the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager server to a new VM or server machine with a different IP.

    Check this Thread: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/server-move-new-hardware

    Hope that helps!!
