upto now the server had direct access to internet

now we are using proxy and set the settings both in the windows intrnet options

and under "server properties" >> HTTP proxy settings in the manager console

liveupdate is downloading update

the  problem i have is the following errors

"C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\temp\indexW.html (The system cannot find the file specified)"

i have read this i because the server does not have access to the internet and i tried

 http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/auto/index/indexA.html

and  the server has access to the above link

so whats wrong? and why do i get the errors

On the Home page does it show latest definitions? or that is cannot contact LiveUpdate?

If you force a LiveUpdate, does it run or does it error out?

Have a look here:

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager homepage displays the following error:"No data, ..." in "Security Response" box and Severe with failing to load up the INDEXW.html file status under the logs session when running a report for server activity

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH97386

...and a similar posts:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/une...

------------

-  try browsing to "http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/auto/index/indexA.html" - does it give you any error message?

Can you post your scm-server-0.log file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs ?

Hello,

I agree with what some of the other forum posters are saying. This looks like a simple proxy issue. The SEPM is requesting a file from http://securityresponse.symantec.com (so it can tell what definitions are the latest available from Symantec), but the request isn't making it through the proxy.

You have a couple options from here.

Option 1:

Add an exclusion on the proxy for any request to http://securityresponse.symantec.com or http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc... .

Option 2:

Configure your proxy information in the SEPM per this document http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH97386 . (Look towards the bottom of the document.)

Let me know how it goes.

A lot of following errors:

2013-02-06 16:03:08.610 SEVERE: Unknown Exception in: com.sygate.scm.server.util.securitydata.VirusData
java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\temp\indexA.html (The system cannot find the file specified)
    at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)

...did you have already a chance to check the previous articles I have linked?

should be related to your proxy / firewall settings.

make sure SEPM is able to reach internet using System Account.
