What is the difference between SEPPrep and AppRemover found the in the SEP 12.1.4 deployment package? (I see taht SEPprep is officially targeted for SEP 11.x)

We are trying to migrate SAV 10 to SEP 12 and run into errors on some of the system during the tests, where SEP would not install even if SAV was manually unisntalled. (currently we are waiting on Symantec for our support case).

    Similar thread here:

Looks to aid in the removal of Trend.

Have you not tried cleanwipe to get SAV off the system? It's in the Tools directory of the download ISO

Have not yet tries cleanwipe. It's on the list.

I have tried uninstalling SAV manually but still in SEP does not always want to deploy

First You can try to use Clean wipe tool after you can try to install sep client .

    Also you can post SEP_INST.log.

    Logs are available %temp%

It sounds like this is what you mean by AppRemover: Third-party security software removal support in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2 and later. As you can see, it's intended to remove third-party applications. It won't uninstall SAV.

SEPprep was the unsupported tool for use prior to the third-party security software removal being integrated into SEP as of (I think) 12.1 RU1 MP1. You may be able to use SEPprep to uninstall SAV; consult the PDF that is packaged with this tool (located under RU4 Disk 2-Tools\NoSupport\SEPprep).
