  • 1.  SEPSBE 12 database crash

I've been running SEPSBE 12 for almost 7 months now and the database has just started acting weird.  It will run for some time and then crash.  I have SEP running at a really small site (< 5 users).  The last error message in the log is:

    *** ERROR *** Assertion failed: 201501 (9.0.2.3654)
Page for requested record not a table page or record not present on page

At which point a dump file is created and the database is down.  Shortly I'll start getting "The Symantec Protection Center database has gone down and needs immediate attention." e-mail messages.

The db size is about 780MB, which seems a little large to me.  I'm running the server on a Windows XP Professional workstation which is running in a Xen virtual machine.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

The internal Database is provided by Sybase.

See the "Handling an Assertion Failure" kb on the Sybase site.

Let us know if you are able to resolve the problem or not.

    Best,
    Thomas

Kris - I would also suggest opening a support ticket to debug and see if you can ascertain root cause so it does not happen again.

The steps you provide requires a database validation tool (dbvalid.exe) that isn't included with SEPSBE 12.0 so I'm unable to validate my database.  Is there any way that you can provide me with this tool?

Also, a lot of these commands require that I have the user ID and password for the database whenever I execute them.  Do you know what these are?

    Thank you,
    Christopher
