  • 1.  Server with 2 NICs = GUP for 2 Subnets?

    Hey everybody,

I'm trying too sort out a few GUP Update Problems I'm haqving here.

I have learned, that you need ond GUP per Subnet for the Clients to use them. Although I thought when I did configure a fallback-Server the clients would use this one, even when its not in their Subnet, I seem to be wrong, as there are simply no connection appearing on the GUP.

the Question now is: Can I configure one Machine to be GUP for multiple Subnets?

    Example:

    Clients reside on Subnets: 1.2.1.x/24, 1.2.2.x/24, 1.2.3.x/24

The Server (future GUP) now has 1.2.4.1/24

    Currently, this does not work.

When I now install, say a 2-Port NIC into the Server, so this Server now has IP Adresses: 1.2.1.1/24, 1.2.2.1/24, 1.2.4.1/24

Now, will this one Machine be able to be the GUP for the Subnets 1.2.1.x/24, 1.2.2.x/24 ?

Any recommendations and ideas will bve welcome :-)

    Thanks in Advance!

    Stephan

The backup GUP (or the Single GUP if used instead of Multiple GUP option) can be used by SEP Clients from different subnets.

    Things to check then are:

    • Version of SEP Client on your intended GUP server
    • SEP Client on your intended GUP machine is receiving the LiveUpdate policy telling it to be a GUP
    • Other SEP Clients (eg. those on your 1.2.1.* subnet) are receiving the LiveUpdate policy telling them to use the GUP
    • GUP port (2967 by default) is open between GUP and SEP Clients

Here're a couple of articles to help troubleshoot:

    Hi,

if your client can access to gup server via one ethernet card you can download updates. Gup can share updates another subnest (if can access)

can you access another to gup server from another subnet? (as like ping or file share?)
