This is a brand new server setup. It is SEP 12.1 running on W2K8 R2 on a virtual machine. 4G of memory is assigned to the VM. This server so far only have 8 clients reporting to it, however, I have received couple server health alert regarding high memory usage. Does anyone know why it used so much of memory even if there is only a handful of clients?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Could you let us know if the server is performing any other tasks other than being a SEPM server?

Try Deleting and Recreating Notifications by -

    • In SEPM -Monitors-Notification
    • Delete All the notification and Create it again.
    • Specially if there is Notification for System Event and Server Health

    Hope that helps!!

I get this every once in awhile as well. Typically, what I do when I get it is log in to that server to see what's going on. Everything is always normal.

I believe what happens is the alert is created and it is just a snapshot of the system at that moment. And some times it just happens to take a snapshot when the system is under a heavier load than normal (ie. clients sending logs to the SEPM, SEPM downloading LU contents, SEPM pushing LU contents to client, clients heartbeating in, etc.)

Did you log in to the box to what was going on? Run process explorer on it to see what the load is currently.

The server is only doing SEPM monitoring and nothing else. Most of the settings are still using the default value. I checked the notifications area and I don't see any there.

Which is the database you are using?

Is it present in local system?

It used the internal database and it is located in the local system.

When I logon to the console, everything seems to be normal. The memory usage is about 2G.
