Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) installation returns the error: "The server schema is older than the database schema, the configuration cannot continue."

    Hello,

Make sure you are running the same Setup.exe file, which you have run on the other 3 servers. This would make sure you are running the same version setup file.

It is important to have the same version of database schema used during installation.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) installation returns the error: "The server schema is older than the database schema, the configuration cannot continue."

Here are few steps you could try -

    1. Run the upgrade wizard located: 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\upgrade.bat'
    2. Run the Management Server Configuration Wizard again to complete the migration process.

This issue is similar to the Thread below:

    Hope that helps!!

    Hello,

What database are you running? Embedded Database or SQL Database?

Are you trying to Install Replication OR Failover amonst these SEPM's??

Could you try the steps below:

    1. Run the upgrade wizard located: 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\upgrade.bat'
    2. Run the Management Server Configuration Wizard again to complete the migration process.

    Hope that helps!!

All the three SEPMs are using the Same DB right?

if you run the management server configuration wizard or other three servers you should be able to start the sepm service and log in

    or else post the smc-server0.log

We looked at the database and we saw that all datas have been erased. :(

How can we make a connection from clients to sep manager as son as possible?

I'd recommend restoring the DB from a backup taken before the 4th SEPM was installed for teh quickest recovery.

It sounds like the install package used to setup the 4th SEPM was actually running a later version of the software than the other 3.  This caused it to upgrade the DB when installing, and is now preventing the original 3 SEPMs (on a older version of the software) from connecting to the upgraded DB.

    Your options are:

    • Restore DB to state usable by the 3 older SEPMs and uninstall SEPM4 (my recommendation given you are now seeing some data missing)
    • or, Upgrade all 3 older SEPMs to same version as SEPM4
