Server Service not started

Created: 01 Sep 2008 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 1 comment

Windows 2003 32bit

Xeon 2.8GHZ

4GB Memory

Backup Exec 12D

I put the CD in. I let it auto-run, in the hta i click Start the Backup Exec Installation. It runs a bit then the error:

The Server service was not started. Start this service before continuing with the installation of Backup Exec.

Same when i run the environment check. No errors in logs EXCEPT the security log: Event ID 560, Type: Failure Aud, Description: Object Name: Lanmanserver Accesses: Query service configuration information, query status of service, start the service, stop the service

Seems to say i dont have permission to do something, but of course i am Local\Domain admin and I should have all the rights i need.

I have done extensive google searching to no avail. Anyone have a clue? And of course, the Server Service is started.

This looks to be communication issues with DC, Please try following steps and update.

-Uninstall and re-install the following component: "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks".

-Reboot the server.

-Disjoin the server from Domain and re-join it.

-Reboot it again.

Re-try the install Process.
