  • 1.  Server status is 'Disabled' on Symantec System Center Console. Clients are not showing up on groups.

My primary server (running 10.1.5) has a red down arrow on it and the status is Disabled.  The server group has a red X on it and the clients are not showing up in the groups.

This occurred after the server crashed and needed a chkdsk to come back up again.  Anyone know how to fix this issue?

Make sure that the following two Symantec processes are running

    Rtvscan.exe
    Pds.exe

If those will not start, then you may have to uninstall and reinstall Symantec AntiVirus.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2005050916281848 - I checked the items on that article except for the force re-creation of the pki information.  I would like to avoid unistalling/reinstalling..

I do see processes Rtvscan.exe and Pds.exe running in task manager.

Here is what I found on the event log....

    Event ID 62

Symantec AntiVirus communications layer failed to initialize. Remote manageability has been disabled. An error occurred while initializing SSL-based communication. Error code: 0x20000022.

@cpw41: I think your PKI might have become corrupt. Do you see any 0 KB files in "pki\private-keys"? Otherwise they should be 1 KB.

Can you try to do a repair?

Sorry I should have mentioned that the server is on Windows Server 2003 and in a Windows environment for clients.

The files in pki\private-keys are 1KB.

I tried a repair but I can waiting for off-hours to be able to reboot the server.

Thanks for the responses so far!!
