  • 1.  server unreachable even after SEP uninstall

after installing the patches for a domain controller, it rebooted and encountered this issue.
when it was booting up it took ages to get to the logon screen.
took 20mins or so just "preparing network connections" during the boot up process.

of course, the 1st thing i did was uninstall the patches by booting into normal mode.
yes, normal mode loaded fast and allowed me to logon to the box without issue.
after uninstall, still the same issue for normal mode.
    figured it was the firewall.
uninstalled SEP, which encountered some issues.
used cleanwipe to force the uninstall.
    server still unreachable.
even went in manually to make sure no SEP was left.
followed the step found here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007073018014248
now the server is able to boot into normal mode but the machine is still unable to connect to the network.

oh, forgot to mention that in safe mode the machine is connected and is reachable.

    inputs appreciated.

Is your network Driver properly functioning??? Because when forcely uninstall SEP using Cleanwipe there is no point of firewall issue. Try to reinstall the Network Drivers.

    hi,
check if teefer driver still loaded on the system. read in forum that this causes the issue of network drop.

btw the nic is working in safe mode.
only in normal mode it isn't.
is the nic driver still at fault here?

Are you telling about safe mode with networking?
Anyway once try by reinstalling network card driver..
Also unistall teefer driver is present (This is a hidden device,if you want o see you have to select show hidden devices in view of device manger) .

    Reboot the server and try.
