Servers not showing as a GUP in SEPM

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I added servers to the multiple GUP setting. Only a few out of a dozen are showing in SEPM as GUPs. It took a couple days for the last two to show. But I can look on all the server system logs in SEP and they are setup for GUP. How long does it usually take for them to update in SEPM, and when will the SEP clients near the GUP redirect to the local GUP?

Thanks

Depends on the heartbeat as to when they will check in and pickup the latest policy. What is it set to?

You can also use the GUP monitor to verify GUPs

SEP Content Distribution Monitor / GUP monitoring tool.

I cannot for some reason find where the heartbeat setting is.

I actually did the GUP monitor yesterday. :)

Go to the GUP and open a Run prompt

type smc -stop

wait 10-15 seconds (SEP icon will disappear)

than type smc -start

Check the System log on the SEP client. Does it show that it now acting as a GUP?

The log shows..."Start serving as the Group Update Provider (proxy server)."

It said this yesterday, but didn't today before stop and start. Maybe a reason it wasn't fully working? hmm

Now SEPM shows it as True for GUP.

So the clients at that site will pick up the GUP during the heartbeat interval?

Yes, you should be good to go now. Once clients check in, they will get the command to go to that GUP for updates.

One main server with SEPM (ex:192.168.0.0).

Then our remote sites (ex:192.168.1.0, 192.168.2.0, 192.168.3.0, ...) have their main server as GUPs for their clients.
