Service Backup Exec engine stopping

Created: 07 Nov 2013 | 2 comments

Environment: Windows server 2008 R2 fully patched, HP blade server, Backup Exec 2012 patched to version 14.0 Rev 1798 (64-bit).

When accessing the Backup Exec server via a Windows Remote Desktop Connection, has anyone else experienced the Backup Exec engine service stopping? It does not stop immediately and will just randomly stop. The service cannot be manually restarted, thus the backup exec server has to be rebooted.

When accessing the server via the Backup Exec Client (fully patched of course) this does not occur.

Any suggestion or explainations of this behavior would be helpful.

Thanks!

I have heard of this happening if there are multiple NIC's.  If there are then disable all of the one's not being used.

Hope you have applied service pack 2 and all the hotfixes. If the issue still continues, better to open a support case and have the service crash dump analyzed.
