Service Desk 7 - Treatment

I think the BUZZ produced by Symantec for Service Desk 7 release was poor in my estimate.

And yet, the Service Desk really ties it all together for them for an end-to-end solution.  Imagine how antivirus remediation could be tied into the ticket which is associated to an asset -game changing!

You would never see a SEP release come out this quietly.

I hope I am wrong and I a just no "in the loop" and there is some big buzz/splash planned.

Altiris is strategic...

... for Symantec as the central platform/gui for all products.. That was (is it still?) the official statement (no, it is not a quote).
But you are so right... Focus seems to be on Security and a little less on Storage. They do seem to forget System Management is more ...
The good old Livestate release did get more BUZZ where as SD and all version 7 products take System Management so much further...

agreed on the buzz

THe buzz is coming from partners pushin SD, not from Symantec.  The buzz is also coming from customers who have seen SD at Manage Fusion or other demos/webinars.  Not Symantec.

ServiceDesk training is comming from Symantec.  We at ITS will be holding the official 5 day course in Grand Rapids the first week of Novemember

I'll give you shameless plugs ;o)....

ITS do a great job in the US supporting products such as workflow and Servicedesk, however if you're European based the support and drive from Symantec to develop skills and capabilty within the Partner network can only be described as pitiful.

Now if anyone in Europe would like to enagage an independant presales and consultancy professional, who is ex Symantec and has been involved in all stages of SD7 Design and development and was the focus for Workflow enablement in Europe, and you would like advice in creating training courses and saleable SD7 implementation consultancy packages, then give me a shout, I just might know where to find him.......lol

Now that's what I call a shameless plug ;o)

Hi all, Symantec is in the

Hi all,

Symantec is in the process of developing both  web-based and instructor-led training for ServiceDesk.  We are trying to have the web-based offering available by the end of October, and the instructor-led offering available in November.
I appreciate all of the shameless plugs  :-)
