I installed a brand new ITMS 7.1 server with an off-box SQL Server 2008 and a third box with ServiceDesk 7.1. I installed ServiceDesk the 'old way' that is from my ServiceDesk server browser went to Settings->All Settings then from the Settings->Service and Asset Management->ServiceDesk folder selected ServiceDesk. in the right window pane clicked Altiris.ServiceDesk.2009.exe and downloaded the file (note the file actually downloaded is "Altiris.ServiceDesk.7_1.exe"). I did the install with a little help from the forums, support site and friends :) and most is working well (other than pass-through authentication but that's a future thread) Now I want to use the Workflow Enterprise Management capability in the console. My SMP server is listed but i need to add my ServiceDesk server. If i click Add Server I get a "no available servers" message. If I click Install Server it looks like its going to do an install asking for all the info for the installation. QUESTION: How do i add my SD server to the managed servers environment? Do I have to reinstall via this mechanism? (hope not)

    Thanks for any advice!

Go to the Workflow SWAT site and click the "Learn Workflow" tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the list to the 'Workflow 7.1 New Features' section and there is a video on the right for "Register a Server". I think this is what you may be looking for. Here's a direct link to the video: Register a Server

There's a lot of other great videos there too on the new features for Workflow 7.1.

OK, watched the videos (I had watched them before but had forgotten about them) and tried again but still got an error when trying to check in or open the repository on the SMP. It turns out that I needed to explicitly include the domain in the SMP credentials (even though it validated fine without the domain by pressing the test button) and then I was able to open the repository successfully. You also need to add the account to the Workflow admin role in the SMP console and all should be fine.

I have added the accounts to the workflow admin roles, but where you mention  to to include the domain in the SMP credentials... where is that? is it during installation or inside SMP?

    Thanks
