You can get around the mandatory update to ServiceDesk 7.5 and still apply the other updates to your SMP. Instead of choosing 'Upgrade installed products' choose the option 'Install new products'. This will allow you to upgrade your suite or individual solutions.
As far as licensing goes there should be no problems with the 7.1 system. However if you use the repository and Workflow Enterprise Management on the SMP you'll run into version issues with Workflow.
Hi BOLD,
You do not need to upgrade your ServiceDesk solution software.
See the Other things to know section of the IT Management Suite 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 Release Notes at
http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5955
Other things to know
By default, the Upgrade installed products option in Symantec Installation Manager upgrades all installed products to their latest version.
Workaround:
To keep ServiceDesk at its
current version, use the Install new products option in SIM to install the maintenance pack instead of the Upgrade installed products option.
