SescLU.exe doing incredible amount of IO and computer completely slows down or becomes unresponsive

Hello,

I really need some help to fix the performance issue of my computer when the process SescLU.exe runs. When this process runs I see incredible amount of IO activity happening on my computer such that the disk activity indicator light is constantly on and the computer is practically unresponsive for any user activity. Can you please suggest what could be the issue and what I could do to fix it ? What is this process and what is its purpose ?

I am using Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.7000.975. and Windows XP Professional.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check the log to see if LiveUpdate is running

Admin >> Servers

Logs will be near the bottom

Hi,

 

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, looks like it was loading the new Virus Definition file. Logs clearly say that the new file was loaded and the new policy was applied.

About the computer performance when this is happening, is it normal to have such a significant impact on the performance that the computer practically become unusable till that is completed ? It takes about 30 minutes or so for the entire process to complete and during that time I just cannot do anything else but wait for the process to complete. Any thing I could do to improve the situation ?
