Setting up a Microsoft Sharepoint Server farm to Backup up in BE2012/sp2
Dear all, Help.
For the last couple of weeks I have been trying to Backup up my Sharepoint servers with the Microsoft Sharepoint farm option. I'm not able to do it.
I have read nearly all the support forums about this issue, but it is not clear why I am not able to set this up. I am not in-experienced with Bacup Exec, I've been using it since version 6. I have had my fair share of issue's in the past, but never as persistent as this. I have 4 sharepoint servers I want to back up. They all have the remote agent installed, I am able to back the windows part of the servers. No problem there.
Here is the problem, every time I try to choose the option "Microsoft Sharepoint server farm" I get the message ' either the sharepoint server farm already exists in the server list or backup exec cannot access the server farm. Check to see if the Sharepoint farm exists in the list of servers or check the farm's web server name and credentials'.
I. I have chosen the netbios name of the webserver
2. The account I am using is a domain account, it's set to logon as a service and run as a batch. It's been set as local admin on the sharepoint servers. It has even been given admin rights in the sql databases. It's the same account I use to backup the windows files from the servers.
3. I have sufficient remote agent licenses and agent for application and databases. That should not be the case.
What am I doing wrong here and why should it be so difficult to set this up. I have no problem in backing up AD, SQL, Lotus Notes, etc. I know some of you have got it working. Please help if you can before I go crazy.
I opened a case with Symantec, but I never got further then them asking me if I had the proper license. That didn't really help.
