Setting up PGP Universal

Created: 23 Oct 2011 | 13 comments

Hello everyone,

I'm new to all this and was wondering how to set up a main computer to manage blackberrys that are capable to PGP email.

Preferably using BES instead of BIS with a voice plan from a mobile network.

Would I have to create my own server to run BES then add the blackberry pgp support package on to the server?

I don't have personal experience to help you with this.  Someone else here may be able to, and you can find documentation for the BlackBerry use by doing a Knowledge Base Search for BlackBerry.

Hi,

You will need Blackberry as well as PGP Universal servers.

Configure email proxy settings on Universal, to point to your BlackBerry server.

This way, messages are processed by Blackberry server, but filtered throught Universal, which determines if encrypts or not the messages.

I hope the files attached can help you .

is it possible to use a server, that i can rent somewhere else instead of creating one?

and also i was looking at BESX since its for a smaller group of users.

yes you can use any server, just make sure you have admin access, and the necesary ports opened.

Anyway, I suggest you to contact IT consultant company ; mounting BES + PGP + Email is not kid´s play.
