Messaging Gateway

I am looking at getting the brightmail gateway appliance and was wondering if it setup internet facing in front of your firewall or behind the firewall in your internal network.

It will generally be either just behind your firewall inside your network or another common setup is in a DMZ. If you need more information you can also contact sales or even possibly go with our try and buy program.

Currently we have a linux spam solution that sits on the WAN (internet) side of the firewall which filters mail before it hits the firewall. Is this possible with the symantec appliance. Would we place it in the DMZ or does it have built in security features that would enable us to place it directly on the WAN.

There are several setups that you can do with the Symantec Appliances. This is largely going to depend on your environment. I would suggest that you get in contact with sales as they can better assess your network and get you the needed information.
