SF upgrade from 4.1 to 6.0 on Sol 10 - will upgrade thru installer work?

Created: 29 Nov 2012 | 1 comment

Folks,

I am planning an upgrade of SF4.1 to SF6.1 on a Solaris 10 cluster. Has anyone tried such upgrade using the installer upgrade option? Did it work? I would like to avoid doing a manual pkg uninstall followed by installer installation.

Thanks

Wojtek

The Installation Guide is your friend... All manuals can be obtained here: https://sort.symantec.com/documents/doc_details/sfha/6.0.1/Solaris/ProductGuides/

Read through these sections in Veritas Storage Foundation Installation Guide  :

Upgrade methods for SF

Supported upgrade paths for SF 6.0.1

You will see that you need to upgrade to 5.0 MP3 first, then to 6.0.1.

If you are using VxFS, you need to check existing disk layout version.
See Upgrading disk layout versions in the Installaion Guide.
