Shadow Copy Component backup issue
I am trying to back up the System State, C drive, and D:\~\MSSQL\Backup folder on a W2K3 server.
Initially, the backup policy (NBU 6.0 MP2 Solaris 10) included the System_State directive, with the server's Volume Shadow Copy service off: this resulted in a status 71: none of the files in the file list exist.
Next, I changed the directive to Shadow Copy Components:\ with the VSC service off; this gave the same result.
Finally, the server's VSC service was turned on with the Shadow Copy Components:\ directive; this resulted in a status 1, with the following errors:
09/20/2006 13:56:53 - Warning bpbrm (pid=696) from client: WRN - can't open object: Shadow Copy Components:\System State\System Files\System Files (BEDS 0xE000FEDD: A failure occurred accessing the object list.

A similar server was set up with Shadow Copy Components directive and VSC off, and is backing up fine.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Russell,
Have you reboot the Win2k3 server and try backup again?
Chia,
The server was rebooted, but the backup status of 71 is still occurring.

I also having the same problem.
One of my server have the same problem.
Others are fine.
Anyone got any solution on this?
Hi,
Not sure whether the following technote is relevant to you guys. But its certainly worth to check on the backup client whether the Volume Shadow Copy service is set to manual.

http://support.veritas.com/docs/286954. DFS, MP4, WIN2003 will give you this problem. MP5 will fix it but does not exist yet.Message was edited by:
