This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have 3 W2003 Servers I'm backing up using BE12.5.  The backups complete without errors, but when I look in the backup history, it shows the following for system state on all 3 servers--0 files and 0 directories...if I go to restore I see Service State is there, and in it is Event Logs and WMI, but none show any size...is there an option I am not selecting properly?  I want to make sure Service State is getting backed up properly, but there is no easy way to test it that I know if.

Hello, See it in the restore

Hello,

See it in the restore view if you are able to expand and see anything under "Shadow Copy Componants"

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...

I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Our job histories also list Shadow Copy Components as being zero directories and files (though with a large Byte Count total) and I've certainly managed to restore from them before without a problem.

Under 'Shadow Copy

Under 'Shadow Copy Components' I see Service State, and expanding that further shows Event Logs, WMI and TS Licensing (where applicable).  So I guess its fine?  A service tech from Dell was looking at another unrelated issue and noticed this and told me there might be a problem w/our Backup software, prior to that I always thought it was fine...just want to make sure.

Hello, If you are able to see

Hello,

If you are able to see Service state and user state under restore for Shadow copy components, I think its fine.

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...
