Sharepoint Agent - Object permissions after restore
Created: 10 Dec 2009 | 1 comment
Hi, we are thinking of using the SharePoint agent to backup/restore our MOSS 2007 Farm. I wanted to know if anyone could advise us as to whether a restored object would retain the original ownership, or that of the Farm Admin running the restore? We also need to know if the version history would be restored too.
Thanks for any info
Regards
Phil

Limitations - NetBackup for SharePoint Admin Guide
Hello Phillip.
I suggest you check the Admin Guide for Sharepoint Agent. I
I just found the limitations bellow. Caution, in an order to restore all sharepoint components this affect the restore operations.
Limitations on backups and restores
The following limitations exist when you perform backups and restores of SharePoint Server:
■ Redirected restores are only supported forWebapplications or for SharePoint 2003 portals or team sites. You cannot redirect this type of restore to another farm but you can redirect the restore within the original farm.
■ The following cannot be redirected to another Web application or another SharePoint 2003 portal or team site:
■ Documents and folders (These items can be redirected to a file system.)
■ Farm Configuration database and Single Sign-on database
■ Index Files or Index database
■ SharePoint policies do not support multiple data streams.
■ If you perform a restore of a SharePoint 2010 item with Granular Recovery
Technology, any SharePoint 2010 user ratings and tags are synchronized to the current settings of the user rating and tags in the respective metadata databases.
■ Due to Microsoft API limitations, NetBackup does not support backups of the following:
■ Application Registry service application
■ Word Automation Services
■ Web Analytics services
