Sharepoint Backups

Created: 19 Nov 2012 | 3 comments

Hello all,

Running Symantec Backup Exec 2012 (14.0 Rev. 1798 64b) on Windows Server 2008R2 std Service Pack 1

I have a sharepoint backup configured as a FULL once a week and incremental every day. The FULL is about 350Gb and runs with no errors. The incremental one always FAILs with:

V-79-40960-37908 - The last Full Backup on database <database> was a atreaming backup. Block level incremental and differential backups require a VSS snapshot Full backup.

I tried running an incremental backup right next to a successfull full with the same result.

Any ideas??

Are the Sharepoint databases also selected in the SQL backup job ?

What is the final error code being thrown by B.E. when you run the Incremental.

Additionally on these backups do you have A.O.F.O. enabled? If so please disable and try to run both the full followed by the Inc. and report any errors that are thrown

I hope this posting was helpful

Be sure you have hotfix TECH180964 installed and all Sharepoint backups are set to use AOFO/VSS.  That hotfix resolved an issue with SQL backups where Sharepoint SQL DBs were backed up both in the SQL agent selections and Sharepoint selections where they should automatically be excluded from the SQL backup even if selected.
