Hello all,

There are 3 web servers, 2 application servers and 1 SQL server in the SP farm required to be backed up. That what I know from the naming convention at this moment.  I already emailed SP admin to ask for individual svr role in SP farm.

SQL 2008 R2

SP 2010

Windows 2008 R2

Netbackup 7.1.0.1 Windows

I am not clear of the Sharepoint Directives in the policy:

Q1: Which SP servers to use for the directive Microsoft Sharepoint Resources:\  ?

Q2: Which SP servers to use for the directive Microsoft Sharepoint Resources:\AllWeb?

Q3: How to backup SP SQL server?  Use SQL Agent or SP Agent?

Thank you.

you use the web server to

you use the web server to backup everything. it crawls through the farm to get the other components. of course you have to create os backups for all the machines.

have a look at the microsoft documentation for sharepoint, there is a chapter on backups. there are many components that should all be considered for backup. have a look at all of those components with your sp admin and find the backup/restore path for each that's the most convenient for you.
