    hi all

we had a SEPM 11.0.6 on a server and all the clients (about 150 ) on it. now we have deployed SEPM 12.3 on a separate server and wanted to shift all the user to that new server. so is there a way to shift all the clients from one server to the other.? as all the SEP clients are of older version so is there a way to push and change the new clients on the old ones insted of manually uninstalling the old and reinstall the new one??

you can use replacing of sylink.xml using Client deployment wizard within new SEPM to make the clients to report to new server.

    Check this link:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/upgrade-clients-sep-121-auto-upgrade-feature

There is described how to deploy an update of the client with the auto upgrade wizard. Alternative you can add the package manually to the "install packages" section under every group.

From the communication deployment wizard, you will bring all the old clients to the new server

once thats complete. You can assign the upgrade package to the group. This will autoupgrade all the clients to new version 12.1.3

SEPM 12.1.XX console can manage any previsous version 11.x clients.

Here is how you do the AutoUpgrade

    HI,

Change the existing  communication to the new SEPM assign upgrade package on the client group.

#note communication can be modified by  replacing Sylink.xml via sylink drop/ Sylink replacer / import export wizard on client.

The quickest and easiest way is to replace the sylink file. If you're running 12.1 RU2 or higher, than it can easily be done from the SEPM:

As you have mention that you aregoing to move the client from old server to new. Your old server is 11.x so it mean that client also of same version. For 11.x clients you can use the sylink replacer tool of 11.x version

after replace the sylink file then use the auto upgrade feature to upgrade the clients version

If you want to peform the redirection to the new server and upgrade of the clients at the same time, then I'd recommend taking a look at the below articles:

This one describes how to set the Install Settings to point the client to the new server on install:
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH93617

These describe how to prepare for and use the Client Deployment wizard in SEP12.1 to push out this client package (including the aforementioned install settings):

By default, the auto-upgrade feature enables the "Distribute upgrades over 1 day" option, which means upgrades to the clients in the group should occur at random times across the next 24hours.

Check the client status again, otherwise i suggest you to create one test group move your IT system in that group then apply autoupgrade feature on it. Check the client log if it not work.
