Shortcut deletion

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I enabled the shortcut deletion that after 30 days all shortcuts within a mailbox will be deleted. It seems that it is not working, every shortcut is still in all off the mailboxes. I restarted the services, tasks but no result. Can anyone explain why?

Did you check the box that says to delete the shortcuts in mailboxes?

John,
Did you have expiry run against the items in the vault? I think shortcut deletion only works if the items it's associated to in the vault have been expired via it's retention category.

Micah,

I don' understand exactly what you mean, can you explain to me what you mean.

Micah,

Do you mean that i have to enable the storage expiry. Do i have to click on selcted items, because the button Never was active?

John,
Yup, that's your problem. Give it a schedule. :)

John, specifically shortcut deletion will ONLY remove shortcuts to items that have been removed by storage expiry, nothing else.

From the docs:

Notes

If you select Process Vault Stores: Never on the Storage Expiry tab, Shortcut Deletion does not remove shortcuts to items whose Retention Period has expired, because those items remain in the archives.

Shortcut Deletion does not generate a report and it does not delete shortcuts to items that have been deleted using the Web Access application, or shortcuts to items that were in archives that have themselves been deleted.

Micah, Lee,

I set the storage expiry for this weekend to run, afterwards will run the shortcut deletion. Thank you you both for the information.

Post back next week and let us know the results.

Keep in mind that there is a checkbox setting in Shortcut Expiry to allow shortcut deletion based on the age of the shortcut and not just if the item is expired. So an item does not have to be expired for its shortcut to be deleted.

This was set in 6.0 I believe but I know for sure its in SP1 and SP2
