I built a Rapid Install (RIP) to push out Cisco Unified Personal Communicator and after deploying the RIP the endstations no longer show a "local area connection" in the "Network Connections" window.  I have tryied all different solutions and some work but then when I try them again on a different computer it doesn't work there.  I have tried Sysprep which worked once.  I tried just uninstalling Netword Adapter in Windows Manager which worked once.  I have tried removing "Network" from ControlSet in the registry which worked once.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that may be the "cure".  Has anyone else run into this issue?

My only "cure" right now is to reimage the computer which is a lot of work to then install all applicaitons for each user effected.

Any help will be appreciated.  Thank you.

I have spun this posting out as a separate thread as it does not seem to be a Ghost issue. If I recall correctly, Rapid Installer is part of the Altiris product suite.

So can you confirm first of all which Symantec product you have, and the version.

At first glance, it looks very much as if your Rapid Installer is trashing the existing network settings. How have you created your install package?  I presume installing the Cisco application manually does not exhibit these issues.
