Simple question: where do you identify the SEP server?

  • 1.  Simple question: where do you identify the SEP server?

    Hello All,

When I am sitting at the workstation, how do you identify where the workstation it attempting to get virus updates from?

I had an old server: destroyed it.  I put in a new server.  Now, I can't be sure if all the clients are looking in the right place for updates.

    Thanks.

    Wj

    Hello Wj,

    Try this first:

    1. Open the SEP client.
    2. Click Help & Support
    3. Click Troubleshooting
    4. Look to the right of Server

If it says "Offline", then the SEP client can't connect to a SEPM. You can then determine what SEPM it is trying to connect to by following these steps:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection (or wherever you installed SEP)
    2. Open Sylink.xml
    3. The hostname and/or IP are listed there. Look for lines which start with Server Address.

    Regards,

    James
