Hi all,

Can anybody help me with the following problem situation?

I'm new to Altiris and would like to remote install some EXE files to several PCs

I created the collection with the 10 PCs already, but are having problems with the Packages now

When clicking on Tasks/Software Management/Software Delivery/Windows/Software Deleivery Tasks, I, right click on Software Delivery Taks Wizard/ Create and Deliver new Software Package. Than I have

Package Source (Have 4 options, but cant located file there from my local C:

Package Location: When clicking on "Total package size at this location" I have the feeling this is not my Local PC??!

Command Line: Here I can locate the EXE file from my local HDD, but it doesnt execute after deploying?

The EXE file is saved on my Local PC and I only can find it when I click on the folder icon on "Command Line"

Somewhere I herad that I have to upload the Packaged first on the NS Server, but dont know how that works.

Can anybody give me some assistant?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

"this location" is actually the Notification Server in this instance since you're looking at a console which is produced by the NS. What I would recommend is creating a folder on the NS and uploading (copying via Windows Explorer) your packages into separate folders there. You can then use the "...at this location".

NB: Whenever you create a package, EVERYTHING in the root folder will be copied to the target computer for execution

I've found that using a UNC path to packages is not as reliable as having them stored locally on the NS. It should still work though.

The software delivery documentation does a pretty good job of describing how to accomplish this task: http://www.altiris.com/Support/Documentation.aspx
