Single client with both SEP 11 and SEP 12.1

We have a client that had SEP 11 and was upgraded to SEP 12.1 via an install EXE generated by the SEPM 12.1 console. That client has two SEP icons which bring up separate SEP status screens. One is for SEP 11 and the other is for SEP 12.1. They both have different definitions.
How is this possible?

I've never seen that before.
What's showing in Add/Remove prgrams?
I would suggest remove SEP 11.x
Your best bet may be to just remove both and start over fresh.
You can use cleanwipe if you have issues removing.
